From Handmade Beginnings to Hey Picotado!
Although we have already shared the origin of Hey Picotado!, this story actually began over 18 years ago, rooted in a long-standing passion for independent design, handmade production and small businesses.
Since I was little, I’ve always loved art, design (even though I didn’t really know what that was back then), paper, colours and beads. I was fascinated by what I saw and decided to start making jewellery pieces; friends liked them, the first orders came in, and that encouraged me to keep going and explore my imagination and developing my skills.
In 2007, at just 16 years old, I launched my first project, Art&Creation, where I sold my handmade pieces online through a blog. A few years later, in 2010, while already studying Communication Design at university, I created another project called Coisas Miméticas (also shared through a blog). Using jewellery materials and polymer clay as my main medium, I transformed small, everyday elements into necklaces, bracelets and one-of-a-kind pieces, always with a strong focus on experimentation and detail.
As this work evolved and became more consistent, it naturally merged with my academic background. In 2014, Picotado · Design & Crafts was born, a design studio and shop dedicated to celebrating design, craftsmanship and thoughtful creation. This chapter continued to grow and change until 2023, when the studio became Two-ist Studio and Hey Picotado! emerged as its own independent project.
Hey Picotado! is the result of all these years of learning, experimenting and creating. Every piece is made with intention, care and a genuine love for the process, and that is exactly what I hope to continue sharing with you.
