An Adorably Spooky Decoration for Sofia’s 3rd Birthday 🎃🦇🕸️
Designing this Halloween-themed celebration for Sofia’s 3rd birthday was the perfect opportunity to blend playful spookiness with a soft, charming aesthetic. The entire concept was inspired by the pun “Trick or Three”, which set the tone for a party that was both festive and irresistibly cute.
We started by defining a colour palette that would guide all the design elements: pink, lilac, white, black and pastel orange. This mix kept the Halloween energy alive while giving the decoration a gentle, child-friendly feel. From there, we began developing each illustration, ensuring that every character, from the bats to the pumpkins and joyful ghosts, shared the same cohesive style and expressive personality.
Once the visual direction was set, we moved on to the production phase. The centrepiece of this project was the cake table, featuring a custom “Trick or Three!” sign and a layered paper cake topper that brought dimension, contrast and a touch of magic to the setup. To complement it, we created a “Happy Boo-Day” garland designed to fill the space with movement and tie all the colours together.
Every element was carefully crafted using layered paper techniques, combining manual assembly with precise cutting to ensure clean details and a polished finish. From tiny stars and floating ghosts to the shapes of the pumpkins, each piece was designed to feel fun, sweet and full of personality, exactly the mood we wanted for this celebration.
Seeing all the pieces come together on the day of the party was the highlight of the project. The decoration created a charmingly spooky atmosphere that matched the theme perfectly while still reflecting Sofia’s playful spirit. It was a joy to transform such a fun concept into a complete visual experience for her special day.
